Manage your license keys
Global CAST license key
When a fresh installation of CAST Imaging is initialized, a global license key is referenced (this is obtained from CAST Support ). This license key is displayed in this panel.
The license key grants a license for all nodes managed in CAST Imaging Console and restricts usage in various different ways as determined by your contract with CAST, for example:
- By the number of Contributing Developers (CDs)
- By the expiry date
If you have a new key, use the interface to edit and add your new license key.
Switching license key strategies
Two license key strategies are available and the choice of one or the other is made during the installation process:
- a
Named Application
strategy (where each application you onboard requires a dedicated license key entered when you perform the onboarding) - a
Contributing Developers
strategy (a global license key based on the number of users) - individual applications do not require a dedicated license key
It is possible to switch from a Named Application
strategy to a Contributing Developers
strategy after having onboarded applications by changing the license key - this will mean that users will no longer be prompted for an application license key when they attempt to onboard new applications.
- It is not possible to switch in the reverse direction, i.e.
Contributing Developers
strategy toNamed Application
strategy. - It is not possible to switch back to a
Named Application
strategy if you have already switched to aContributing Developers
strategy.
