Dropping objects
Dropping an object will remove it from the Knowledge Base. To drop an object:
- In the Graphical View, select the object or objects that you want to drop from the Knowledge Base.
- Select Object > Drop Object on the toolbar (you can also use the right click shortcut menu).
- You will then be prompted whether you want to do this - select YES.
If none of the objects you want to drop are shared in the Knowledge Base (i.e. they do not belong to other analyzed projects), then the objects will be removed from the Knowledge Base and you will no longer see them in the Graphical View or in the Object Browser.
If CAST Enlighten detects that one of the objects you want to drop is shared with other analyzed projects - i.e. the same object is recorded as being present in two or more analyzed projects stored in the Knowledge Base - then the following dialog box will also be displayed:
At the top of the dialog box you will find the name and type of the object that is shared and then underneath a list of the projects that this object belongs to.
- To drop the object from a specific project, select the project (a check mark will be displayed as shown above) and then click Drop.
- To drop the object from all projects, select all the projects listed in the dialog box and the click Drop.
- If you change your mind about dropping the object, click Skip - the object in question will not be dropped from the Knowledge Base.
Action on share detection
These options enable you to specify when and how objects will be dropped:
Option | Action |
Ask always | Selecting this option will cause the dialog box to always be displayed for each shared object you have selected to be dropped in the current session (i.e. if you select 10 objects to be dropped, then you will be prompted ten times to choose the projects and whether to Skip or Drop). The dialog box will also be re-displayed for any other shared objects you subsequently select to be dropped |
Drop in selected projects | Selecting this option will cause the current object and all other objects to be dropped only from the projects you select. The dialog box will not be re-displayed for any other shared objects you subsequently select to be dropped, unless other new shared projects are detected for any of the other objects you select |
Drop in all projects | Selecting this option will cause the current object and all other objects to be dropped from all projects The dialog box will not be re-displayed for any other shared objects you subsequently select to be dropped |
Notes
- Please remember that dropping an object from the Knowledge Base means removing it from the Knowledge Base You will no longer be able to view this object once you have dropped it from the Knowledge Base.
- Please be aware that selecting Drop in selected projects or Drop in all projects will cause the application to NEVER re-display the Shared Objects Configuration dialog box - this means that you will not be prompted to choose the projects you want to drop the objects from - unless (in the case of Drop in selected projects) any new projects are detecetd.
- This option should also not be confused with the Deleting objects and links from the Graphical View option which only removes the selected object (or link) from the Graphical View, but NOT from the Knowledge Base.
