Using Libraries
Once you have created a library and associated an object (or objects) to that Library you can begin to work with it.
To get an idea how Libraries work, follow the simple instructions below:
- Create a new Library.
- Associate an object to that Library (any object will do).
- Place the same object in the Graphical View.
- In the Library window select the Library to activate it (a check mark will appear next to the Library).
- A message will be displayed asking if you want to replace your technical objects with the selected library, click Yes.
- Your object will then be replaced by the Library in the Graphical View.
- Any objects that you place in the Graphical View that have a link to (whether calling or called) to the object associated to the Library will be linked to the Library with an Access (A) type link.
Notes
- To replace the library with the original object, deactivate the Library in the Library window by clearing its associated check box. A message will be displayed asking if you want to replace the Library with the technical objects:
-
- All Objects > select this if you want the original object plus all of its child objects to replace the Library in the Graphical View
- Previous Object > select this if you want to replace the library with the original object only
- None > select this if you don't want to replace the library with any objects (the Library will still be removed).
- When you replace an object with a Library in the Graphical View, the object will be displayed with a gray color in the Object Browser window.
- You can also use the and buttons to activate and deactivate a Library (as oppose to selecting it) - although selecting these buttons will also activate/deactivate ALL the Libraries present in the Library window.
